Kate Hoefler

Hi! I joined Ohlinger as a project manager in May 2016, and have served as a lead project manager for multiple disciplines, including English, Psychology, Art, and currently History.

As a project manager, I assist in the development and production of titles across all lists, supporting both managing editors and developmental editors in all stages of production. Project managers are particularly instrumental in the creation and management of interactivity, in maintaining schedules for and executing all QA for our titles, and in ensuring accessibility and content quality across all stages of the digital production cycle.

I hold an MFA in poetry from the University of Michigan, where I studied as a Colby Fellow, and a BA in English and Creative Writing from Ohio University. Likewise, I have enjoyed teaching college courses in composition, creative writing (fiction and poetry), and writing-affiliate courses linked with history and mass media.

In addition to being a project manager at Ohlinger, I work as an active children’s book author. My books include Real Cowboys (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) which won the 2017 Friends of American Writers Award in Young People’s Literature, and Great Big Things (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). My third book, Rabbit and the Motorbike (Chronicle Books), will appear on shelves in Fall 2019, and my fourth, Nothing in Common (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), will be published Fall 2020. More books to come!

Being an active author gives me a unique and truly organic understanding of the publishing world.
